Hello all! My name is Adele Lorienne. I’m an artist with a passion for nature and fantasy, and I love to combine the two in my artwork! :) I live in the coastal forests of Oregon, USA, and grew up climbing trees and imagining fantastic woodland realms of my own behind every bush and log.
I work with many traditional and digital mediums as a professional artist, but my greatest passion has always been pencil lineart. Insanely-detailed lines is what I LOVE to do! Most especially when it comes to nature and intricate leafy foliage. The majority of my artwork is finished in pencil and mixed media.
Meadowhaven is my personal art site, focusing primarily on my original fantasy artwork and characters from my various imaginary stories, and the cute little Flora Foxes and Flutterbunnies that live in my hidden meadow havens. While the stories themselves are private (mostly just inside my head), information on the characters, world and species can be found by clicking on the “Original Art and Characters” and “Miscellaneous Art” sections of this website. Art prints, coloring pages and books, stickers, stationary, Flora Foxes merchandise and other products can be purchased from the Meadowhaven Etsy Store.

Q. Can I use your artwork for my RPG site/avatar?
I do have licenses available for some of my artwork! Non-profit only, and there is a small fee. Please contact me (Adele Lorienne at: saimain@yahoo.com) with the title of the image you would like to use, and how you intend to use it, and I will get back to you.
Q. You have so many pencil drawings…can I color some of them?
Please do not color any of my original pencil artwork. However, I have created a coloring book and many, many different coloring linearts especially for colorists! :) There are currently over 70 linearts available to download and color from my Etsy shop, as well as my new MeadowHaven Fantasy Art Coloring Book! You can also find exclusives as a supporter over on my Patreon.
Q. How did you learn to draw?
I am a self-taught artist, and learned to draw over the years by study, observation, and practice. Practice is the key! Never give up, no matter how “bad” you might think you are. Trust me, I’ve been there. All good artists came from “cruddy” artists who refused to give up. I’ve been doodling since I was a child, particularly on cardboard boxes that I’d turn into epic ships to voyage to other worlds, but I started to draw more seriously as a teenager. I’m in my early 40s now, and I’m still at it! Still learning with every new piece. :)
Q. Can you teach me to draw?
The best advice I can give is to pay attention to the world around you–how light hits objects, how things are put together, how colors change. Memorize shapes and practice them. Sketch everyday, study the way things move, learn how things look from certain angles, find someone to pose for you. Train your brain to reproduce life and then you can bend the rules to fit your whims and develop your own style as an artist as you go.
Q. Where do you find your inspiration?
It finds me. :) My worlds and characters live out their lives in my head and sometimes allow me to share small glimpses on paper. Music can sometimes inspire me to draw, or the beautiful scenery around me, particularly nature and my love for strong lines and contrasting colors. Anything can trigger an image in my mind, even just a word or two, and if I feel strongly about it, I’ll do my best to capture it on paper or canvas.
Q. What media do you draw/paint with, and what type of paper do you use?
For my pencil work I use an 0.5 mechanical pencil and acid-free white paper. For digital paintings I use older versions of Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and a Huion Kamvas 13 tablet. I also occasionally use watercolor, charcoal, and colored pencils for my traditional pieces, or a combination of many different media.
Q. How do you keep your pencil lines so clean?
I use an eraser. Frequently. But recently I have been doing all my rough sketching on a digital canvas first to save wasted paper, then I print out the sketch lines I’m happy with and trace them onto a clean page to begin the pencil work proper.
Q. Can I buy some of your artwork?
Absolutely! Thank you for your interest and support! :) Art prints, gift cards, coloring books, stickers, stationary, Flora Foxes and other products can be found in my Meadowhaven Etsy Store. They are each made and personally approved by me, and I can hand-sign anything upon request.
Q. Have you thought about writing books with your characters?
Being an author used to be a dream of mine, actually! I had been working on a series of original fantasy novels for many years, but eventually it came to the point where I could no longer continue. There was just so much I wanted to tell, and not enough time and energy and resources in my life to continue supporting the telling of it. My health started to suffer, my family needed me, and I had to let the written portion of my stories go. However, the stories and characters themselves still live on through my art and my imagination! Artwork is my true passion and my livelihood, and it is my hope that it can stand on its own without several thousand pages of writing behind it.
Q. Is this the end of your FAQ?
Indeed it is. If your question has not been answered here, please feel free to contact me and ask! I’m happy to answer, and to add new Q&A’s to this page as needed. :)
