DANATHEN (prefers to be called DANNY)
    Race: Silene
    Eye color: Hazel
    Hair color: Reddish-brown
    Distinctions: Dimples when he smiles

Steady and stubbornly optimistic, Danny serves as Prince Luke‘s manservant, bodyguard, and devoted friend. He is known for grinning at odd times and being a little slow of wit, but he is ever mindful of the prince’s moods and needs. Maturity and circumstances eventually curb his rambunctious spirit, but his unswerving loyalty remains steadfast to his first and only master.

    ~Story~
Danathen’s humble beginnings as a farmer’s son are rarely mentioned once he gains the young Prince Luke’s favor and is assigned to a position in the royal household. Trained in many skills but mastering only a few, his saving grace was his ready smile, devoted nature, and sense of childhood mischief that rivaled even Luke’s. As Luke grew into adulthood, more favorable and reputable servants and guardians were urged upon him, but he would have none but Danathen at his side. It would prove to be a decision that would save Luke’s life many times, for though Danathen could not handle a sword with any great dexterity, he could offer Luke unconditional support and companionship through any ordeal, no matter how dire. Even when Luke sometimes forgot him in his fits of madness, abused him or allowed others to punish Danny in his stead, Danny never thought of abandoning his master and friend. Sometimes the stress and heartbreak of helplessly watching Luke succumb to waking nightmares drove Danny to resume an old drinking habit, but he overcame it for Luke’s sake, as he overcame all other trials.

When Julian finally comes to take Luke away to the mountains, Danny chooses to be exiled along with him rather than to forsake his master and begin a new life elsewhere. For him, there is no life beyond Luke, no wider world that beckons to him, and no other purpose but to serve. Though Luke is now only a shadow of the proud prince he had once been, Danny still remembers, and treats Luke with all the respect and care due a blood-royal. He serves Luke as faithfully in Julian’s dark mansion as he had at the palace, and will continue to do so as long as Luke has need of him. Together with Julian and Diana, he will never stop trying to kindle hope amid the darkest perils and bring peace back into Luke’s life.
