"The Color Of Winter"

“Everything was white, as if all the world had been wiped clean. Only a sparse scattering of the dark and leafless trees broke the blank slate, but further in, a wall of white fog melted imperceptibly into the snow, obscuring any forest more than a few yards away. A beautiful figure stepped from the concealing white, his delicate wings shining brighter than the snow at his feet. He seemed to be made of the stillness around him, for his light step did not jar or break the soft quiet. He reached up a slender arm and gently touched a climbing vine that had wrapped itself around a half-grown beech. Softly, large buds opened, their cheerful hues adding color to a world of white and gray. The winged creature was nowhere to be seen.”

A dream of Fenwyn, both written and drawn by Karen VanderMolen!
